On May 17, 2024, the new German hospital roadmap tool went online. According to the health minister, patients can use the portal to determine the quality of individual clinics. But things are not yet running smoothly within this transparency tool. The system repeatedly makes serious errors and generates outdated or simply incorrect results. The minister blames in part the clinics for supplying incomplete or even incorrect data. But really, it is also the often faulty interpretation of the data that needs to be fixed, so that this roadmap tool will not mislead patients with incorrect information. When a high number of coded complications receives a positive rating because for the system more is always better. Clearly there is much room for improvement here.
