The retrospective comparison of clinical and pro-cess data of a German spine center before and after the introduction of a robotic
surgery program shows a positive effect on operating costs.
Both cost drivers length of stay and surgical process, but also complications were synergistically influenced in such a way that the case mix
and case mix index could be increased at reduced operating costs. Thus, it could be shown for the first time in Germany that robotically assisted
spine surgery can be associated with economic advantages.
