G-BA allows vacuum assisted closure therapy (VAC) in the out-patient sector

The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) decided that the vacuum assisted closure therapy (VAC) can be used in the out-patient setting at the expense of the payers.

This decision underlies the assessment of the G-BA that VAC is of use and medical need for patients who cannot expect a healing by a standard treatment of wounds.

As soon as the ministry of health approves the G-BA’s decision and the G-BA itself decided on the amount of Reimbursement via the out-patient Reimbursement guide EBM (“Einheitlicher Bewertungsmaßstab”), VAC can be used in the out-patient setting at the payers’ expense.
