A milestone for digital healthcare

Before the summer break, the German parliament adopted several laws and enactments on Friday, July 3rd. One of them is the patient data security law which shall realize the electronic health record (“elektronische Patientenakte”, ePA) in January 2021, after a development of more than 15 years.

“Healthcare Heads believes that the law is an important step towards digitalization of our healthcare system. The project’s success will decide on the connection and communication between service providers and patients in the future via the integration of digital health applications (DiGAs) and others.”
